Connectivity Wireless

The UtechSmart VENUS Pro is a good budget-level wireless gaming mouse. It has a comfortable, right-handed shape, but because of its width and button placement, it's only suitable for medium and large-sized hands using a palm or claw grip and extra-large hands using a fingertip grip. It has a wide range of CPI, adjustable by increments of 100, and a very low lift-off distance. Unfortunately, it has high click latency compared to other wireless gaming mice, so it may not feel responsive enough for fast-paced or competitive gaming. Also, while the sensor on our unit is reasonably consistent, it's moderately inaccurate and undershoots the set CPI somewhat during slow cursor movements and significantly during faster movements. There's customization software that allows you to adjust a range of settings; however, it's only compatible with Windows and only allows you to have one custom profile at a time.

Our Verdict

7.9 Office/Multimedia

The UtechSmart VENUS Pro wireless is a very good mouse for office and multimedia work. It feels well-built and has a right-handed shape well-suited for medium and large-sized hands using a palm or claw grip. You can use it either wired or wirelessly with its USB receiver, and it has a ton of buttons, including 12 side buttons, all of which you can program along with most of the other buttons using the companion software. Unfortunately, the software is only compatible with Windows, there's no Bluetooth support, and the mouse wheel lacks L/R tilt buttons and doesn't unlock for free scrolling.

Pros

  • Feels well-built.

  • Connects wirelessly with its USB receiver.

  • Lots of programmable buttons, including a 12-button side panel.

  • Almost all buttons are re-programmable using the customization software.

Cons

  • No Bluetooth support.

6.4 Video Games (FPS)

The UtechSmart VENUS Pro wireless is mediocre for FPS gaming. It's very heavy compared to dedicated FPS gaming mice, and it has very high click latency. Also, it has a 12-button side panel, which may get in the way for FPS players who only need two or three side buttons. That said, it feels well-built and has a comfortable right-handed shape best suited for medium and large-sized hands using a palm or claw grip. It also has a wide range of CPI, adjustable by increments of 100, and a very low lift-off distance.

Pros

  • Feels well-built.

  • Lots of programmable buttons, including a 12-button side panel.

Cons

  • High click latency.

  • Quite heavy.

7.8 Video Games (MMO)

The UtechSmart VENUS Pro wireless is a good MMO gaming mouse. It feels well-built and has a ton of programmable buttons, including 12 side buttons. It has a comfortable right-handed shape that includes a thumb rest and is well-suited for medium and large-sized hands using a palm or claw grip. Performance-wise, it has a wide range of CPI, adjustable by increments of 100, and a very low lift-off distance. Unfortunately, it has a very high click latency for a gaming mouse.

Pros

  • Feels well-built.

  • Lots of programmable buttons, including a 12-button side panel.

  • Almost all buttons are re-programmable using the customization software.

Cons

  • High click latency.

5.1 Ultra-Light Gaming

The UtechSmart VENUS Pro wireless is inadequate for ultra-light gaming since it's much heavier than dedicated ultra-light mice and has very high click latency. That said, it feels well-made and has mouse feet that glide well on mousepads and desks. Its right-handed shape is well-suited for medium and large-sized hands using a palm or claw grip or extra-large hands using a fingertip grip.

Pros

  • Feels well-built.

Cons

  • High click latency.

  • Quite heavy.

7.5 Travel

The UtechSmart VENUS Pro wireless is a good travel mouse, but it's bulky and may not fit most laptop cases. Nevertheless, it feels well-built and connects wirelessly with its USB receiver. It also has a storage compartment for its receiver when not in use. Unfortunately, the customization software is only compatible with Windows. However, it has onboard memory that allows you to use your saved settings on computers without installing the software.

Pros

  • Feels well-built.

  • Connects wirelessly with its USB receiver.

  • Onboard memory.

  • Internal storage compartment for its receiver when not in use.

Cons

  • Bulky; likely won't fit in most laptop cases.

  • No Bluetooth support.

  • 6.4 Video Games (FPS)
  • 7.8 Video Games (MMO)

Differences Between Sizes And Variants

The UtechSmart VENUS Pro RGB wireless MMO gaming mouse is a wireless version of the UtechSmart VENUS. The unit we tested is black, and there aren't any other color variants. You can see the label for our unit here.

Compared To Other Mice

The UtechSmart VENUS Pro RGB wireless MMO gaming mouse is a good budget-level choice for those looking for a wireless MMO gaming option. While it's more affordably priced than most other wireless MMO gaming mice, it has some features that even some more premium models lack, including a charging cable with a USB-C port and CPI indicator lighting. It also has a wide shape and a thumb rest, making it a more comfortable choice than some mice; unfortunately, this makes it unsuitable for small hands. Also, it has a very high click latency for a gaming mouse, especially when connected wirelessly with its USB receiver.

For other options, see our picks for the best wireless mouse, the best wireless gaming mouse, and the best MMO mouse.

Redragon M913 Impact Elite

The Redragon M913 Impact Elite is a very similar wireless gaming mouse compared to the UtechSmart VENUSPro. Both mice are nearly the same size and visually very similar, but the Redragon is wider and has a pinky rest. It also has better wireless click latency. However, its click latency is still very high for a gaming mouse. Additionally, it has software that allows you to configure more than one profile, a feature the UtechSmart lacks. Both mice are well-suited for medium or large-sized hands using palm or claw grip or extra-large hands using a fingertip grip.

UtechSmart VENUS

It feels sturdier and has an optical sensor. On the other hand, the VENUS is a wired-only model, but it's a bit lighter. It has an older laser sensor, but performance-wise, it has a marginally wider CPI range, a more precisely adjustable CPI, and a more consistent sensor. The VENUS also includes a set of eight 2.5g weights, which the wireless version lacks.

Razer Naga Pro

The Razer Naga Pro is a better wireless MMO gaming mouse than the UtechSmart VENUS Pro. The Razer is lighter and feels sturdier. It has a more flexible paracord-like charging cable, mouse feet that glide more smoothly, and modular side panels with different button configurations. Performance-wise, it has a higher maximum CPI, a more precisely adjustable CPI, Bluetooth support, and much lower click latency. On the other hand, the UtechSmart has a thumb rest and a charging cable with a newer USB-C port, compared to the cable on the Razer, which has a Micro-USB port. Neither mouse is suitable for small hands using any grip type, but the Razer is more accommodating for a wider range of hand sizes overall.

Unfortunately, it only has four default CPI settings. On the other hand, the UtechSmart has a right-handed shape with a thumb rest and a 12-button panel on the left. Lighting Color RGB

The UtechSmart VENUS Pro RGB wireless MMO gaming mouse has a sleek, gamer aesthetic. Most of its body, including the left and right-click buttons, have a grippy, rubberized surface, but the 12-button side panel and a section of the palm area have a glossy plastic texture. There are RGB zones in the logo on the palm area, in the scroll wheel, in the 12-button number pad, and in two arrow-shaped sections at the front. However, none of them are independently programmable. There's also a line of red LED lights alongside the CPI buttons behind the scroll wheel that display what CPI profile you're using.

The UtechSmart VENUS Pro RGB wireless MMO gaming mouse feels well-built. There's no flex in the plastic body when you apply pressure, and the buttons feel responsive and provide good physical feedback. There's a slight rattling sound if you shake the mouse.
