Warhammer 40K Officially Reveals New Emperor’s Children Army Set, Soulblight Gravelords Get Massive New Line for Age of Sigmar (5)

The Emperor's Children and the Soulblight Gravelords were in the spotlight at this year's Las Vegas Open, as Games Workshop revealed plans for Warhammer 40K and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. This weekend, thousands of wargamers are congregating at the Las Vegas Open, one of the biggest wargaming conventions in the US. Although the bulk of the event is focusing on actually playing games, Games Workshop typically uses the event to preview some of its upcoming products for several of its biggest games.

This year, Games Workshop revealed two new army boxes, one each for Warhammer 40K and the fantasy-themed Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. The Emperor's Children, a group of Chaos Space Marines dedicated to the Chaos god of excess Slaanesh, will be getting its long-awaited new line of miniatures along with a new army box. Meanwhile, the Soulblight Gravelords are getting an expanded lineup of skeletal Barrow Knights and Barrow Guard, which will be released in the Deathrattle army box. No release dates were announced for either boxed set, but they're both expected to go on sale in the coming months.

Everything Confirmed So Far

Warhammer 40K's Emperor Children And Warhammer: Age of Sigmar's Soulblight Gravelord Get Upgrades

The Emperor's Children of Warhammer 40,000 are best known for the Noise Marines, which use sonic-based weaponry in battles to disorient their foes. Not only will we get new Noise Marine models, but also a new Lord Kakophonist (commander of the Noise Marines) model as well as a new Lord Exultant model. Other new units include melee-specialist Flawless Blades and standard Space Marines that can be built as either melee-based Infractors or ranged Tormentors. The infamous Lucius, a leader of the Emperor's Children, is also getting a new miniature as part of the refresh.

Meanwhile, the Soulblight Gravelords will get a new mounted Wight King model, as well as new Barrow Guard and mounted Barrow Knight miniatures. Outside of the Deathrattle box, the infamous vampire Vhodrai joins the Soulblight Gravelords on a massive revenant dracolith. This is one of Age of Sigmar's biggest miniatures yet, with a 160 mm base and a massive lance. A new Vampire Lord on Nightmare Steed miniature was also announced as part of the line refresh.

Warhammer 40,000's newest Army Box adds new Death Korps of Krieg units, which are a great addition to an existing Astra Militarium army.

In terms of future releases, Warhammer 40K will next focus on the various other Chaos Space Marine chapters, followed by the Grey Knights, Space Wolves, Salamanders, Black Templars, Imperial Knights, and Chaos Knights. As for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, the Idoneth Deepkin and Night Haunt will be coming later this year, followed by the Blades of Khorne, Kharadon Overlords and Flash-Eater Courts. Notably, Games Workshop also teased a new Age of Sigmar faction, which will likely focus on Chaos Dwarves.

2025 is shaping up to be an amazing year for Warhammer fans. Four army boxes have already been announced, featuring two popular factions for Warhammer 40,000 and expanded armies for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Vhodrai looks particularly impressive as a centerpiece model and continues an unmatched series of fantastic fantasy models.

The only problem is that all these models coming out over the next few months will be expensive for Warhammer fans. This is going to be a fun hobby year for Warhammer enthusiasts.
